THE STORY BEHIND

LET ME TELL YOU A STORY

We can learn about history In different ways. School, books, journeys – that is how we find out about our ancestors and past of the world. We can also learn a lot talking to witnesses of history. In that way, we – young Europeans want to develop our knowledge.

That was the beginning of ‘Let me tell you a story’ international project series. Well, Let us tell you a story about it...

‘Let me tell you a story is a series of the projects where young people, youth workers and seniors of our local societies can cooperate together learning from each other. It bases on very interesting method called ‘Living history lesson’. Group on international youth exchange meet representative of previous generation and have chance to make interview about life of this person (being focused on interesting European historical period of time).

Idea of project series is very successful and was already awarded few times. So far we have made 6 parts of it. 3 youth exchanges and 1 seminar in Poland, 1 youth exchange in Romania and 1 youth exchange in Czech Republic.

We are still searching for new possibilities and partners. We decided to make mixed partnership here consisted of our most experienced partners and also organizations which we know but were not involved so far in ‘Let me tell you a story’ youth exchange.

Our idea in this part is to make interviews with older generations of our families. Participants will have chance to interview their grandparents before coming to Poland. During youth exchange in Poland we will interview grandparents of polish group members. Topic of the interview will be: historical period of XX century and daily life. We believe that through this we can deepen family bounds and show to our grandparents how big source of knowledge and experience they are. We will produce publication with interviews and movie about our project.
